Fairy Origins
What are fairies? Where did they come from?
The answer, well, nobody knows.
There has only been speculation.
However, some old myths and legends
can give a sort of an explanation
of where fairies originated from.
In an Icelandic story,
Eve was washing her children near a river
when God spoke to her. In her awe and fear,
she hid those children that had not yet been washed.
When God asked if all her children were there,
she replied that they were.
He then declared that those she had
hidden from him would be hidden from man.
It was these children that
had become elves and fairies.
There have also been some less fantastic
views on the origin of fairies.
Norse mythology states that those maggots that
had escaped from the body of Ymir had
transformed themselves into the light and dark elves.
The light elves being good and the dark elves being evil.
In other parts of the world,
fairies are believed to be fallen angels
or those stuck between heaven and hell,
not good enough for heaven
but not bad enough for hell.
The Realm Of The Fairy
Another mystery of fairies is where they live.
The exact position of 'Fairyland' is elusive at best.
It is sometimes just over the horizon and
it is sometimes just below our feet.
There have even been times when it
has been given a geographic location.
Most times fairies live beneath hills,
in forests, and in fields and caves
(more specifically, they adopt a tree, cave,
or hill to such an extent
that the particular tree, cave, or hill
and the fairy become synonymous.)
Fairy Rings
Sometimes while walking in the woods,
you may come upon a ring of sorts,usually
made out of mushrooms, rocks, trees, or flowers.
It is most likely a fairy ring and
it can spell danger for a human passerby.
Fairies often dance in such rings and the
music may enchant a human causing him or her
to inevitably join the dancing
and never be able to stop.
The dance may seem to last only minutes,
or at most a whole night, but in fact,
the duration of time outside the
ring has been considerably longer.
This is because fairy time is
faster than that of humans.
A minute of fairy time can
be up to a year in human time.
Fairy Sightings
Time is often an essential factor in sighting a fairy.
Many sightings take place during the
transition from night into day or vice versa.
It should also be noted that these
times can also be a moment of escape
for humans from fairy spells.
Some holiday times that are also favorable
for fairy sightings are May Day
~¤~Which celebrates the return to the summer solstice~¤~
Midsummer's Eve, and Halloween
(Which marks the changeover from
the old celtic year to the next).
Transition periods are very
important in sighting a fairy.
In general, fairies do not like to be seen.
They will show themselves to you,
you can never seek out them.
If they do show themselves to you,
be careful not to blink for they will disappear.
The naked eye, which cannot see a
fairy in it's invisible state,
can be "opened" by holding a fourleaf clover.
The application of faerie ointment
to the eyelids can also dispel the
illusions cast by a fairy and reveal
it's true appearance.
This ointment is normally reserved
for anointing the eyes of fairy babies
with mortal mothers and if it is used by
a mortal to enhance his or her vision,
there can be severe consequences, even death.
"Faerie, Little And Wise"
Little faerie with fragile wings,
Dance with me among the springs.
Giggle and flirt with the sun,
Within the shadows lies all fun.
From your flute pleasing music flows,
As you sit upon thy fragrant rose.
I hear your laughter as I near the brook,
Among the garden I shall look.
"Little one come out to play,"
"The dew fortells a beautiful day."
"Look inside yourself," the faerie says,
"To find true love and one that cares."
I hear her laughter fade away,
So I sit and search for love this day.
Although surrounded by the beauty of thy garden,
The love within thy heart would not pardon.
As dusk grows near,
Sweet flute music fills thy ears.
"Oh faerie one little and wise,"
"Why is love so full of lies?"
"Do as I say," she said to me,
"Within thy heart true love be."

Flower Faeries
Basil- The Fae of the Basil help us
awaken greater discipline and devotion.
Buttercup- This flower and its Faerie
bring healing energies. They help us rediscover our
selfworth.
Carnation- Their energy is healing to the body,
contact with them strengthens the aura.
Clover- The clover Faeries assist
in finding love and fidelity.
Daisy- The daisy is a favorite of Dryads
(wood nymphs). These Faeries help awaken creativity.
Gardenia- This special Faerie stimulates
feelings of peace. The Fae of this flower are VERY
protective towards children.
Heather- The Fae of this flower are drawn
to humans who are shy.
Jasmine- These Fae love to
invoke pleasant dreams. They have also been known to help develop mental clarity.
Lily- These Faeries help in the
development of purity and humility.
Rose- The Faerie of the rose can help
in all aspects of love and fertility.
Sage- They awaken a sense of wisdom in your life.
Snapdragon- These bring humans great protection.
Thyme- Thyme draws the wee Folk into
your sleeping chambers.
A sprinkling of faeri dust will
take you where you want to go...

We fly about in the dark of the night
Carrying with us, crystal balls of light
So that we may see how to fly and play
When the light of the sun has drifted away...
When other faeries are lost in their dreams
We are outside playing under nature's moon-beams
Sprinkling our faerie dust all about
Laughing and singing with an occassional shout!!
We are all baby faeries at heart
And laughing and playing is really an art
We'll be happy to make you smile all night long
Just believe in us and in our song...
We fly about in the dark of the night
Carrying with us, crystal balls of light
So that we may see how to fly and play

What Are The Signs That
Someone Might Be A Fairy?
They are playful
Sensitive and emotional
There seems to be something magical about them
Loving, Gentle and
Creative
Striving to make the world a better place
They dress in colorful or beautiful clothes
They have magical items in their living space like:
Stars, Moons
Flowers
Cute things
Candles
Poetry
Artwork
Bird feathers
Toys
If you knock on a door and it does not open, do not push.
If you push the door gently and it opens, that is for you. You
cannot go through a closed door. Too many people in our world
waste time and effort banging at closed doors
The Difference Between Angel Wings
And Faerie Wings Are That Angels Wings Are Like Birds...
And Faeries Like Butterflies...
Ways To Open Yourself To Nature Spirits
& Invite Their Presence Into Your Life:
Spend time in nature.
Meditate while sitting under trees, around lakes, etc.
Have plants and flowers inside your home.
Be aware of the abuses of nature and do your
part to clean it up and reverence it.
Involve yourself in some creative
activity on a regular basis.
You don't have to be expert in it,
but enjoyment of any creative activity
will draw those of the faerie realm.
Leave an area in your yard to grow wild
so that the faeries can play freely.
Be generous in your dealings with others.
Keep the child in you alive.
Place an echinite (fossil sea urchin)
on your mantelpiece. They were called faerie loaves,
made by the faeries. Those who had them would
never want for food and always had faerie assistance.
Sing often. Nature spirits gather
wherever there is song and music.
